The Panama Canal – As one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World, the Panama Canal is a must-see for anyone traveling in the country. Built to dramatically decrease the travel time for ships between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, the Canal has seen over 900,000 vessels and counting.
Amador Causeway- Islas Calzada de Amador are four small islands by the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal. They are linked to the mainland via a causeway, made from rock extracted during the excavations from the Panama Canal. In part the causeway was meant to serve as a breakwater for the entrance. Here you will find: El Biomuseo, The Smithsonian, Flamenco Marina, restaurants and entertainment.
Mercado de Mariscos- This food market, located at the entrance to the colonial neighborhood of San Felipe, was created by the Mayor’s Office of Panama in 1995 to house fish vendors in a single location and thus comply with internationally required sanitary standards.
Panama Viejo- Archaeological Site of Panamá Viejo and Historic District of Panamá Founded in 1519 by the conquistador Pedrarías Dávila, Panamá Viejo is the oldest European settlement on the Pacific coast of the Americas.
El Casco Antiguo- UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site. Experience the historical, charming and vibrant neighborhood of Casco Antiguo. Casco Antiguo, also known as Casco Viejo, or the ‘old quarter,” is Panama City’s historic district.
